Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gradation – Fuchsia 1

I've purchased this lip product during my stay in Hanoi. I'm talking about Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gradation. Ombre lips have been a trend in Korea for a while now and I actually thought that this trend would be all across Asia. But to my surprise most vietnamese women wear their lip color as a full look actually. Just an additional information.

Fuchsia is a typical dark pink (matte). There is nothing special about this color but it fits everybody and is also suitable for daily use. The stick itself has two ends: one with the bullet and one with a sponge applicator in order to smudge the color.
It's not really a new invention. I usually create that gradient look with my fingers, so I was quite thankful for the sponge applicator since I don't have excess color all over my fingers anymore.

What I really liked about this product is its staying power. Applied once and it will stay on your lips the whole day. Even when I apply more color than necessary for an ombre look it will still stay on forever.
I for one prefer to use less color though for this look (as you can see in the pictures), just because I think it makes me look younger.

Until now my experiences with Maybelline lip products were so-so. At least I can't remember one product that blew me away or that made it into my routine. But I have to say that I'm very impressed with the Lip Gradation. I've also looked up whether I can purchase it online but nope (at least not for a decent price). So, I really hope that they will release the Lip Gradation very soon in Germany as well. As far as I know they also promote this product as Lip Blur in some countries.

What do you think about gradient lips?
Would you wear this or do you still prefer the classic full look?

Cộng Cà Phê, Hanoi

Cà phê cốt dừa - frozen coconut coffee

If you are travelling in Hanoi or HCM City, there is no way that you could miss this coffee chain, called Cộng Càphê. They are basically everywhere, only beaten by Highlands in their omnipresence. And even though this is such a "mainstream" coffee shop, I'd still like to introduce it to you today.

The first time I went to a Cộng was with my cousin. I was immediately impressed by its "shabby chic" look. You know how much I love vintage cafés.
The Cafés are usually in all hues of khaki green and brown, highlighted by some red pillows with floral prints. Sporting militaristic décor, those cafés feel very edgy and being visited by vietnamese hipsters with their laptops and cell phones, it radiates an artsy vibe.
Cộng Cà Phê - Số 54 Mã Mây, Hanoi, Vietnam

The first Cộng was founded in Hanoi in 2007.
Hanoi is known to be more traditional, more conservative compared to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). So, in a way it makes sense that a café with black and white pictures from the Vietnam war time (or American war, as it is called in VN), plenty of propaganda posters and vintage furniture was created in Hanoi. But then again, I don't think there is any political message here. Entering these cafés it just seems like entering an old era in the past. Well, the music on the radio as well as the tourists and youngsters on their phone do remind you that you're still in the 21st century but you get the picture..
Sữa chua cà phê nếp cẩm

My first drink at Cộng was a Sữa chua cà phê nếp cẩm - it was heaven!
Sữa chua means yoghurt and nếp cẩm is basically fermented black sticky rice. It's one of my favorite desserts to begin with but adding the coffee makes it even better, which I never ever thought could be possible. You get a nice mix of bitterness from the coffee, of sweetness from the yoghurt and a hint of alcohol from the fermented sticky rice. Each of those three componets bring in a different texture as well, so believe me when I say this is the sh~
Cộng Cà Phê - Số 35A Nguyễn Hữu Huân, Hanoi, Vietnam

I also tried their coconut coffee, which I thought was good and on very hot days I usually go with a Sữa chua hoa quả (Yoghurt with fruits and crushed ice) - super refreshing!
Their juices are pretty good as well, or you can just sip on a beer while watching the city breath. If you just want a typical vietnamese coffee with condensed milk, then keep in mind that they don't serve the best ones (it's not bad either though). It's to be expected anyways in my opinion but I'm mentioning this since I've heard many complaints (from westerners mostly).
I haven't tried the food there yet so I can't say anything about it. But honestly, I would recommend you to eat street food anyways if you are in Hanoi, even if it's just a Bánh mì.

I spent quite an amount of time at Cộng since I had to do some paperworks for uni and work on my laptop. As I've mentioned before I loved the vibe here and even though it was noisy I didn't feel disturbed at all. The only complain I have would be their bad internet connection. Luckily I used my books most of the times but sometimes I had to check things up on the internet and it was either super slow or didn't connect at all.
Using that hat as a lamp was pretty cool I thought!

Even though I was in Hanoi for two months I couldn't visit all Cộngs. The ones I went to most frequently were the ones at Nguyễn Hữu Huân (second one I'm showing here) and the one at Xuân Diệu (third one, below).
Nguyễn Hữu Huân - Old Quarter, my hood. No seriously, it has three floors, super nice staff and on its right side lies Xôi Yến, my favorite sticky rice place. About 5 minutes away lies a very good Bún riêu (crab noodle soup) place, the Harry Potter Café is just nearby, as well as Aroi. Nguyễn Hữu Huân Street is overall worth a visit as you can see.
The Cộng at Xuân Diệu has the most beautiful decor in my opinion. Each Cộng is decorated similarly but still differently but I just liked the one here the most. You also have a nice view to the West Lake and I have very fond memories of sitting here with my cousin, drinking our coffee and talking about how I want my very first tattoo to be like (he did it for me) or how my internship went or that I should spend a year or so in Hanoi the next time I come or just memories of bitten to death by mosquitoes..

Secret Garden

Was sagt ihr so dazu? Wie gefallen euch Blumendesigns?
A very summery nail design today, even though the wether is not quite summery this week.
It's been a while since I did some floral designs. Florals were "my thing" for a while but then I got really sick of creating them. I have to say though that floral nail arts always get the most attention. People would always ask me about my nails when I wear florals xD Why is that so?

For this nail art I worked with acrylic paints mostly. As a base polish I used a milky one by catrice, which has slightly pink shimmers (not sure if it's visible on the pictures but it looks just so pretty under sunlight). The flowers are all done with acrylic paints (red, blue and magenta). I also added some sequins by essence since I love the effect it gives, as you could tell from by previous design. Plus, it covers those small mistakes you made hihi The rhinestones are in the same colors as the flowers and that's pretty much it. Not rocket science, though I took me longer to create those flowers than I thought it would.

What do you think about these nails? Do you enjoy florals design?
Hope you have a great weekend!

Love, Anhy

Ocean Floor

Hallo meine Lieben,

Was meint ihr dazu?
Hello my loves,
I hope you had a great start into the new week.
July came faster than expected and my birthday is approaching as well.
Honestly, I don't even want to celebrate my birthday this year. July is such a stressful month for all of us, having many exams to take. My first exam will be next week, nevertheless I wanted to show you this nail design first.

You might know already that I'm a huge fan of water/underwater/nautical/mermaid/you name it designs. Just everything that has to do with the sea. So, that's why my second summer nail art this year will be dedicated to that theme as well.

The blue is actually a powder from essence Yes we pop! TE, which I applied on my nails with a brush. For the gradient effect I applied one coat of a glitter polish (actually those are matte sequins). The little tin with the blue powder also came with some neon yellow sequins. In combination with the blue it results in a beautiful, shiny green. In order to create some highlights I've also added some stars here and there and voila, done! In oder to emphasize the nail design even more I paint some of my nails with a simple nude polish, which does look a bit sandy, doesn't it (at least the color).

Definitely one of my favorite nail designs, which was super easy to create.
What do you think?

[Summer Nails] Watermelon Sorbet

Hallo meine Lieben,

essie sugar daddy - essie watermelon
Hello my lovelies,
It's been a long time... Way too long actually! I think the last nail design I've created was about 4 months ago. My internship aroad, as well as moving out and university didn't let me breath for a second the past months. But I had wonderful months and will surely blog about Vietnam as well in the near future.

Back to the nail design.
Since the weather is a lot more beatiful now, I've decided to go wih something fruity.
Watermelons are (apart from strawberries) my favorite fruits. I didn't want the pink polish to be too intense, so I dab the polish with a make up sponge on to my nails. Over the pink I've also applied one coat of essie's sugar daddy. The watermelon design is done like a half moon manicure. For the green, as well as the white parts I used acrylic paints. On my accent nails I wear one coat of sugar daddy, applied with silver glitter and rhinestones in red, pink and green. The accent nails are also in the manner of a half moon manicure.

I hope you like the design!
I especially like that the pink is not too intense, just like sorbet.
Next nail art is already on my nails, only have to take some pictures. I will try my best to blog more often from now on.
Until then, enjoy the lovely weather! (^_^)b
